KidsJiu Jitsu
More than just martial arts — we build confidence, discipline, and resilience in kids ages 4 and up. One of the most respected youth programs in McHenry County.
Building Champions
On & Off The Mat
Our kids program is built with intention and structure, designed to develop real jiu jitsu skill alongside the character traits that matter most — discipline, confidence, coordination, and respect.
Led by Mark Millare, a 2nd degree black belt under Henry Akins, every class is age-appropriate, fun, and challenging. Kids learn practical self-defense, anti-bullying strategies, and how to carry themselves with confidence in any situation.
Parents consistently notice the difference — not just in their child's performance on the mat, but in their focus, behavior, and self-assurance off of it. This isn't daycare with a uniform. It's real training that produces real results.
Your Child's
First Class
Bring your child in comfortable athletic clothes — that's it. No gear needed, no experience required. We'll pair them with the right age group and a coach will guide them through the entire class.
Parents are welcome to watch from our stadium seating area. You'll see your child warm up, learn techniques with a partner, and play structured games that reinforce what they've learned. The atmosphere is focused but fun — kids want to come back.
After class, we'll walk you through how the program works, the belt progression system, and answer any questions. No pressure — just come see if it's the right fit for your family.
More Than
Self-Defense
Kids who train jiu jitsu carry themselves differently. They learn they can handle hard things — and that changes how they show up at school, at home, and with friends.
Every class requires listening, following instructions, and staying engaged. These habits build over time and parents see the difference in homework, conversations, and daily life.
Kids learn how to stand up for themselves without starting a fight. They develop the awareness to avoid trouble and the skills to protect themselves if they can't.
Training partners depend on each other. Kids learn to respect their coaches, their teammates, and themselves — lessons that stick well beyond the mat.
Jiu jitsu builds coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility — all while kids are having fun. It's exercise disguised as play, and they never want to stop.
For kids who want to compete, we offer focused preparation and travel to tournaments. But competition is never required — every child progresses at their own pace.
